Founding Story
In 2023, six friends won permits to climb Mt. Whitney, a 14,450-foot peak that would demand the very best of them. Over the next six months, they trained with purpose, pushing one another through monthly virtual challenges that tracked miles, calories, vertical feet, and more. By the time they set foot on the mountain, each of them was in the best shape of their lives. On the way down, a new idea took shape: what if that same competitive energy could be harnessed not just for personal goals, but to power support for meaningful causes.
Our Organization
Compete for Causes is a grassroots organization with the mission to turn everyday movement into meaningful impact and community engagement. Our founders and team of advisors are impact- and fitness-focused leaders with backgrounds in healthcare, marketing, and software, bringing together mission, storytelling, and technology to fuel better outcomes for people and communities. Each challenge is designed to deliver tangible value to causes and fitness-focused partners, helping them deepen engagement while advancing their causes. Our growing community connects through the app, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. With no paid staff, we ensure all net profits go directly to worthwhile non-profit causes, maximizing the impact of every dollar raised through our fitness events.
